What is Astraeos in ARK: Survival Ascended?
Astraeos is the biggest map in ARK. 264 square kilometres of Greek-mythology-themed islands, seas and mountains, made by the modder Nekatus and released as a paid official map ($14.99) on 14 February 2025 (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox; Epic Games followed on 22 October 2025). It launched with about 70 square kilometres open and was built out in updates until Wildcard declared it complete on 27 August 2026, when the final patch added the Abyssanthos and Helianthos regions, the Trireme warship, ocean wave physics and the two ascension bosses.
It is non-canonical, so nothing here ties into the Rockwell storyline. What it has instead is scale: eight regions that each feel like a different map, a labyrinth with a Minotaur in it, a five-headed Hydra, and an ocean big enough to need a warship.

The eight regions of Astraeos

The map has a teleportation system between spawn areas, which matters on something this size: use it before you commit to a three-hour Argy flight.
Bosses on Astraeos
Astraeos has more bosses than any other ASA map. The guardian fights are summoned at any obelisk or tribute terminal; the Hydra has its own arena.

Natrix tributes
Artifacts of the Clever, Hunter and Massive at every tier (Gamma level 30), plus 5 each of Argentavis Talon, Sarcosuchus Skin, Sauropod Vertebra and Titanoboa Venom at Beta (level 50) and 10 each at Alpha (level 70).
Exclusive creatures
- Maeguana. A Maewing variant with a reptilian build: the same glide-and-nurse utility, tougher.
- Grand Tortugar. A giant tortoise that works as a mobile stronghold. Build on it.
- Boaratos. A huge hog with fire attacks. Added in the completion update; its boss-tier version is the Kroaratos miniboss.
- Pulmonoscorpius Monarch and Rhyniognatha Drone. Oversized royal variants of two familiar nuisances.
- Kirayli. Astraeos-only; look for it in the eastern regions.
- Skeleton, Shark, Squid. Themed variants tied to the ruins and the sea.
On top of those, Astraeos pulls spawns from Scorched Earth, Aberration (including Rock Drakes and the coloured gems), Extinction, Genesis Part 1, The Center, Ragnarok and Valguero. It is the closest thing ASA has to a single map with everything on it.
Where the resources are (region guide)
There is no published coordinate table for Astraeos resources, and we will not make numbers up. The reliable pattern by region, plus the interactive map for exact nodes:
- Metal and rich metal: the mountain ridges of Lemnokis and the Appalachian-style highlands, and Therokis's volcanic slopes. Therokis is the densest but the lightning creatures make it a fight.
- Obsidian and crystal: Therokis, and the cave systems under Lemnokis.
- Oil: the sea floor across the Astraeos Sea, and pockets in the Aberration-style caverns.
- Silica and black pearls: the ocean and coastal underwater areas; black pearls deeper, toward Abyssanthos.
- Gems (red, blue, green): the Aberration-style caverns.
- Sulfur, cactus sap: Pyranthos.
- Rare flowers and mushrooms: Helianthos for flowers, the Phokintos swamp for mushrooms.
- Honey: beehives in the redwoods of Lemnokis.

Astraeos on BG Gaming

- Transfers. Astraeos is a full cluster member. Craft a Depot Terminal at level 1 and move between it and our other ten maps.
- You need the DLC. Astraeos is a paid map, so you must own it to join that server. Eight of our eleven maps are free.
