Is ARK Official Network down? ARK Genesis Part 1 offline for second network-wide save rollback

⚠️ Live status (14 July 2026): ARK Official Network is DOWN. Second full-network takedown in 36 hours. No official ETA. BG Gaming's unofficial cluster is up and running. Rolled back on Official? We've got 50k coins waiting.

Is ARK down right now?

Yes. ARK Official servers are down. Studio Wildcard have taken the entire Official Network offline for the second time in 36 hours as of Sunday 5 July 2026 morning UK time. There is no public ETA for the network coming back online.

The short version of how we got here: Wildcard announced a release date, missed it, announced a new one, missed that, missed their own follow-up target by 27 hours, launched, shipped a game-breaking exploit, took the whole network down, rolled every save back to pre-launch, brought servers back up, and then took them down again.

The release date that kept moving

Original announced release: Thursday 25 June 2026.

Delayed (19 June, Community Crunch 512): Bumped a week to Thursday 2 July 2026. Reason cited: "a few extra days to complete final certification and apply the finishing touches." Translation: something didn't pass cert.

Community's expected go-live time: ~1 AM UK on Thursday 3 July 2026 — following the standard ARK ASA "launch during US business hours, live in Europe overnight" pattern that every previous major DLC has followed.

Actual first server up: 3:33 AM UK on Friday 4 July 2026 — around 27 hours after the community's expected go-live, and over 26 hours after Wildcard's own delayed release date began.

Then the fun really started.

The 36-hour timeline (all times UK)

Thursday 3 July 11:48 PM — "about an hour"

Wildcard finally show up, 23 hours after their own delayed release date began:

"We're currently bringing the Official Network online... about an hour before the network is available."

An hour. Bit of dinner, cup of tea, wait it out.

Friday 4 July 2:21 AM — "about an hour (really 🤗)"

"...we expect the network to be available in about an hour (really 🤗)."

The "really" is theirs. Emoji included. When the community team has to add "really" to their own estimate, that's a tell.

Friday 4 July 3:33 AM — deployment actually starts

Three hours and forty-five minutes after "about an hour." Servers up. Ships get built. Palaeoctopus is angry. Launch is, briefly, real.

Friday 4 July 5:32 PM — Official Network taken offline

Thirteen hours and fifty-nine minutes later:

"We are bringing the Official Network offline while we investigate a serious issue."

Every unofficial admin reading this immediately knew what "serious issue" meant. If they're pulling the whole network at 5:30 PM on launch day, it's not a typo.

Friday 4 July 6:03 PM — the exploit

"We've identified a critical exploit... the Official Network will remain offline while the team prepares a fix... we will be performing a network-wide save rollback."

Network-wide save rollback. On launch day. Every ship built, every Tidepup tamed, every Milestone grinded — gone. Whatever the exploit was, it was severe enough that patching forward wasn't good enough. They had to erase the entire weekend.

Saturday 5 July 4:29 AM — the rollback

Everyone rolled back to 7:30 PM Pacific Thursday — Wildcard's original deployment point. So if you played Genesis this weekend on Official, you didn't. Not officially. Officially you spent two days staring at a "network unavailable" message.

Consolation: EVO event rates extended. The game runs faster while you rebuild what you already built. Thanks.

Saturday 5 July 4:57 AM — the character-loss quote

"If you're having trouble finding your character, please check the server you were last on prior to Genesis launch. If you can't find it after doing so please fill out a character-restoration form."

Your character — the one you'd levelled, kitted, and named — might just be gone. Please check somewhere else. Please fill in a form. This is fine.

Saturday 5 July 6:14 AM — un-launched again

"The Official Network is being taken down."

That's the whole message. No context. Just: it's off again. As of writing, it's still off.

Sunday 6 July 4:52 AM — v89.33 patch notes

The patch that arrived after 36 hours of chaos:

  • Ship doors open when docked (good)
  • Umbra stops moving when told (also good)
  • Vacuum Chamber Walls work underwater (great)
  • Palaeoctopus can no longer be tranq'd (surprising)
  • "Fixed a crash" (which one? we'll never know)

That's it. That's the fix.

Why are the ARK Official servers down?

Wildcard have not publicly detailed the exploit that triggered Friday's takedown. Their language — "critical," "significant impact on fair play," severe enough to justify a network-wide save rollback rather than a forward-patch — is consistent with an item duplication, resource generation, or state corruption bug that spread faster than a hotfix could contain.

The Sunday takedown's exact cause hasn't been announced either. The v89.33 client patch that landed shortly after does not mention exploit fixes in its notes.

Meanwhile, at BG Gaming

While Wildcard were rolling back their whole network, we were running ours.

Did they try to break us? Absolutely. They pushed the launch binary on Friday morning (v89.31), then pushed another server binary overnight into Sunday (v89.38) — and both invalidated the AsaApi framework's memory offsets that our shop, quests, decay tracker, and cluster bot all hook into.

Both times, a couple of hours of recovery. Servers stayed up in bypass mode throughout. Characters, tames, and bases were never touched.

Total BG downtime: ~2 hours. Total Official downtime: still counting.

Current BG status:

  • ✅ All 10 maps up — Island, Aberration, Extinction, Lost Colony, Astraeos, Ragnarok, Scorched, Forglar, Genesis (Day 1), and the Events arena
  • ✅ Zero save rollbacks. Zero character-restoration forms.
  • ✅ Plugin recipe fully restored on 89.38
  • ✅ Cross-map transfers working
  • ⚠️ Events arena offline while we finish the plugin rebuild — back in about an hour (really 🤗). (Full disclosure: we're keeping it down as a testing kit for now, so that's a genuine Wildcard hour. Could be a bit.)

Quick FAQ

Is ARK down right now?

Officially, yes. Unofficially, no. ARK's Official Network is offline for the second time in 36 hours as of Sunday 5 July 2026 morning UK time. Meanwhile, BG Gaming's unofficial PvE cluster is up and running — all 10 maps online, Genesis Part 1 included, zero rollbacks. Log in here if you actually want to play ARK today.

Are the ARK Official servers back up yet?

No. Wildcard have not announced when the Official Network will return following the Sunday morning takedown. In the meantime, BG Gaming's cluster stays online — Genesis Part 1 playable now, no wait, no downtime, no character-restoration form. Come play on servers that stay up.

When was Genesis Part 1 supposed to launch?

Originally 25 June 2026. Delayed to 2 July 2026 on 19 June. Community expected ~1 AM UK on 3 July. Servers actually deployed at 3:33 AM UK on 4 July — around 27 hours late.

How far did the Genesis save rollback go?

All Official saves rolled back to approximately 7:30 PM Pacific Thursday 3 July 2026 — the original launch deployment point. Progress made on Official during the launch weekend is gone.

I lost my character on Genesis. What do I do?

Wildcard have asked players who can't find their character to first check the last server they were on before Genesis launched. If the character still can't be found, fill out a character-restoration form through official support and wait. Possibly. Maybe. Someday. Some of your progress might come back. In about an hour (really 🤗).

Or — and this is just a thought — start fresh on BG Gaming, a cluster where your character is where you left it, your dinos are where you left them, and nothing gets rolled back on a Saturday morning. 50,000 free coins on signup. No forms. No maybes. Your work stays safe.

Is BG Gaming affected by the ARK Official rollback?

No. BG runs its own cluster with independent save data. Nothing on the BG cluster was rolled back. Characters, tames, and bases are intact.

Can I transfer from ARK Official to BG?

Not directly — Official and unofficial save data don't sync. But BG gives new players 50,000 free coins on signup, which fast-tracks past the early grind. Most Official refugees are back to a mid-level character within a day or two on the boosted rates.
