The best ARK: Survival Ascended mods, from people who run them all day

Most "best mods" lists are written by someone who installed each one in single-player for an afternoon. This one is written by a server team that runs 26 mods across an 11-map cluster with real players on it every day, which means we know which ones crash servers, which ones break balance, and which ones people would riot over if we removed them. Every mod below is live on BG Gaming right now, with its CurseForge mod ID so you can search it directly. All of them work on PC, Xbox and PS5, because that is what our cluster is.

The ten mods every ASA server should run

1. Awesome Spyglass! (Mod 947033, by ChrisMods)

Point it at anything and see level, stats, gender, taming progress, structure health, loot crate contents. The radial menu (R while equipped) lets you pick what it shows. Nobody who has used it goes back to the vanilla spyglass. If you install one mod, install this.

2. Shiny! Dinos Ascended (Mod 928548, by nevcairiel)

Wild creatures can spawn as Shiny variants with over 40 colour sets and abilities like Frozen, Burning, Spectral, Fathomless and Pygmy. They look spectacular, they tame with boosted stats, and hunting them for essence gives the whole cluster something to do that the base game never offered. Our single most-talked-about mod. 3. Cybers Structures QoL+ (Mod 940975, by CyberAngel)

Over 200 structures and the tools that remove the tedious half of ARK: the CS Multi Tool (pick up structures from a distance, mass demolish), CS Auto Storage (resources sort themselves into chests), the Auto Nanny and Hatchery (babies fed and imprinted while you sleep), a Mind Wipe that keeps your engrams, and a gravestone system. We disable a handful of its structures for balance; here is exactly what is on and off.

4. Dino Depot (Mod 942024, by DelilahEve)

The modern cryopod. Stores dinos in Dinoballs with full stat tooltips, auto-captures newborns, tracks passive production, and searches across everything you have stored. Solves the "which of my 40 Rexes is the good one" problem.

5. Paleo ARK: Evolution Pack 1, Apex Predators (Mod 970540, by UpFromTheDepths)

6. Flyer Seatbelts (Mod 929811, by Quellcrest)

You have to double-tap or long-press to dismount, so you stop falling 300 metres because you brushed the wrong key. Also adds backwards-walk on every mount and a low-stamina warning. Small mod, saves more tames than any other on this list.

7. Paleo ARK: Evolution Pack 3, Hard Hitting Herbivores (Mod 1382641, by UpFromTheDepths)

The EVO Therizinosaurus and EVO Brontosaurus. The Theri rework alone justifies the pack, and with Wildcard's own Theri TLC landing on 30 September 2026 you will want to compare the two.

8. Lethal Ascended Cluster Chat, LACC (Mod 1056780)

Cross-map chat. Type in global on Ragnarok and Astraeos sees it. Only matters if you run more than one map, but if you do, it is the difference between a cluster and eleven lonely servers.

9. Moro's Indomitable Duo (Mod 928824, by MoroNada)

Economy and progression (the cluster backbone)

How to install mods in ARK: Survival Ascended

On a server you join: nothing. Mods download automatically the first time you connect, on PC and console alike. That is the whole reason ASA mods work on Xbox and PS5.

In single-player: main menu, Mods, search the name or the mod ID above, Install, then enable it on your world. Load order matters for the Paleo packs; put Evolution Pack 1 first.

Running your own server: add the mod IDs to the -mods= launch argument, comma-separated. Test each new one on a copy of your save first. Several mods that are fine in single-player will hitch a 70-player server, which is how this list got shorter than it used to be.

What we do not run, and why

We have tried more than 26. The ones that did not survive fell into three groups: mods that hitched the server tick on a busy map, mods that made taming or breeding trivial enough that the game lost its point, and mods abandoned by their author after a Wildcard patch broke them. The 26 above have all survived every ASA build of 2026, including the July Genesis launch chaos. That is the real test.
